‘If I had juju, I’d play for Real Madrid and make money, not bench Kwarasey’ – Fatau Dauda

Image
Goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has dismissed claims that he influenced the ejection of Adam Kwarasey from the Black Stars starting lineup at the 2014 World Cup and subsequently from the national side entirely. Kwarasey went into the tournament as Ghana’s Number 1 and started the Black Stars’ opening match against the USA. However, after losing 2-1, Kwarasey was dropped for the Black Stars’ next group game against Germany and has since struggled to get back into contention. Rumours surfaced that Fatau had used his influence in the side and his relationship with the other players, particularly the defenders to get Kwarasey benched. Others felt something more mystical was responsible for Kwarasey’s unfortunate match, with claims that Fatau Dauda had influenced his rival’s performance with ‘juju.’ He, however, told host of The Tracker on Citi TV that those claims were far-fetched. Dauda added that if he indeed had access to black magic, there were bigger ambitions than just keeping...

Newcastle 1-0: Isaac Hayden's injury-time winner stuns Blues

Image
Newcastle showed they have the appetite for a scrap in the bottom half of the table as Isaac Hayden's dramatic injury-time header earned a vital win against a dominant Chelsea. Frank Lampard's side were on top for most of the game but had little to show for it as Tammy Abraham skewed wide from an acute angle and N'Golo Kante's shot was well saved by Martin Dubravka. Prior to the winner, it was the hosts who came closest to scoring as Joelinton headed against the bar after Federico Fernandez's cross after 22 minutes. But Steve Bruce's side showed their steel by keeping Chelsea at arm's length with a resolute defensive display. And when Hayden headed in Allan Saint-Maximin's cross past Kepa Arrizabalaga, it sent St James' Park into raptures as they moved seven points clear of the relegation zone. Their only worry was an injury to Jetro Willems, who was carried off in the first half. Bruce said after the game that the problem looked ...

The two artistes were banned indefinitely from the awards after Stonebwoy pulled a gun on stage while receiving an award last year. He appeared to have been provoked upon seeing Shatta Wale head towards him on stage. According to Rex Omar, the two artistes are not bigger than Ghana’s music industry. He stated that the industry is guided by rules and after their brawl at the 2019 VGMAs, the ban should serve as a deterrent to other artistes.  “They are not bigger than the industry…if we allow them to be bigger than the industry, then we don’t have an industry, forget it. Principles must stand.” Rex Omar said the ban on the two must continue to serve the purpose for which it was handed.
