The 28-year-old’s double helped claim the 16th major trophy of Roman Abramovich’s ownership, and a first for Maurizio Sarri as a coach, as Chelsea ran riot with four goals in 23 second-half minutes to brush aside Arsenal. “We will decide in a few days and the only target in my mind tonight was to win this final,” said Hazard, echoing sentiments first expressed at the end of the World Cup last summer, after which his desire to leave was knocked back by the club. “But I have made my decision already and now I’m waiting on both clubs. I think it is a goodbye, but in football you never know. My dream was to p...

Pastor Otabil denies saying some scriptures in The Bible are senseless and stupid [statement]

Image
Pastor Mensah Otabil  RE: Some scriptures in the Bible are senseless and stupid The International Central Gospel Church has noted with concern a publication first sighted on brownqh.com and subsequently on ghanaweb.com entitled “Some scriptures in the Bible are senseless and stupid – Mensa Otabil.” The said article references portions of a message preached on Sunday 13th January 2019 by Pastor Mensa Otabil, which was subsequently featured on our Living Word television broadcast on Sunday 26th May, 2019 as the basis for this unfortunate heading. It opens with an assertion that Pastor Mensa Otabil claims that some scriptures in the Bible are ‘senseless and stupid.” While we encourage reportage and healthy debate on sermons preached, we owe it as a responsibility to our publics to correct such significant misrepresentations. The headline and opening statement do not in any way reflect the viewpoint or the contents of the sermon preached by Pastor Otabil. As a theologian of i...

Can The President Intervene For Homeless Ghanaians And Not Just This Unnecessary Asamoah Gyan Issue? — Nana Aba Anamoah Asks

Image
Nana Aba Anamoah has once again commented on the Asamoah Gyan issue and once again, she doesn’t have flattering words to say about it. Anamoah, who had described Gyan’s statement announcing his retirement as the petulant act of a child, is not happy either about the President intervening swiftly in the issue to resolve it. As we reported earlier, Asamoah Gyan has decided to rescind his decision to retire from the national team after a conversation with the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Nana Aba Anamoah, commenting on the issue, said the President should bring the same urgency to solving real issues in the country as he did to solve an unnecessary issue like the retirement of a football player. “We appreciate the President’s intervention but can he intervene for the many young men and women who have no idea where their next meal will come from? Can the president intervene for homeless Ghanaians? Asamoah Gyan’s decision has no impact on economic growt...

The organisers explained that is designed “to protect the scheme and ensure that it is neither impugned nor dragged into any sort of disrepute”. “I’m really sorry” - Stonebwoy apolgises for pulling gun at VGMA@20

Image
Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has rendered an unqualified apology to patrons and Ghanaians for pulling a gun on stage at the 20th edition of the Ghana Music Awards. According to him, he pulled out his gun “out of natural instincts.” A brawl erupted between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale camps at the 20th anniversary of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Sunday. Pandemonium broke out shortly after Stonebwoy was announced the winner of ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year’. This is the fifth consecutive time he is winning the award. Just when Stonebwoy, who was picking up the award for the fifth time, was about to deliver his acceptance speech for the award, Shatta Wale started walking to him on stage. It’s unclear what Shatta Wale’s intentions were considering the fact that the two, over the years, have hardly seen eye to eye. There are suggestions that Shatta Wale, who was clearly disappointed after his arch-rival was announced the winner of that category, was walking up to the ...

Image
Beenie Man appears to take more shots at Vybz Kartel. While fans continue to debate about who is the current king of dancehall, Beenie Man and Vybz Kartel are still taking subliminal shots at each other on social media and in songs. Last night, The Doc took the timeout to remind us all that his work speaks for itself. The dancehall icon shared a screenshot of a Billboard article from 1998 where they named the 98 Greatest Songs of 1998. “RULE #1 Let your work speak for itself,” Beenie Man wrote. The deejay’s classic single “Who Am I” was named the 87th greatest singles released in 1998. Two years later, Beenie won a Grammy Award for his album “Art & Life.” The deejay is arguing that his achievement in dancehall is unmatched by Vybz Kartel and other dancehall acts who are hating on him when he says he is the king of dancehall. Beenie Man received some support from Bounty Killer who wrote on the post, “Levels to this game.” A couple other reggae/dancehall artists commented ...

Image
Afro beats singer Kelvyn Boy who is competing for VGMA 2019 artiste of the year has disclosed that he doesn’t mind if Wendy Shay or Eddie Khae wins because every nominated artiste is a winner. This year’s VGMA is slated for May 18 and one category which is also the talk of town is the new artist of the year. Speaking with Amansan Krakye on Cape Coast-based Radio Central, Kelvyn Boy who some critics think he deserves the new artiste award revealed that he wouldn’t be bothered if Wendy Shay wins. “If Wendy Shay wins, she also deserves it. It’s only in Ghana that if you don’t win an award they see your career to be dead. It’s only in Ghana that when they nominate you and you don’t win they see you as loser. What about those who were not nominated?. Anyone that’s nominated is an automatic winner. If I win I know I deserve it. Last year I was the unsung artiste and we’ve been working. You know our own is different, live band, proper singing, lyrics”, he said. He also added that t...

Shatta Wale and Kwaw Kese lied about their mansions – E.L

Image
Per the analogy of winner of the 17th edition of the Ghana Music Awards, Elom Adablah, better known as E.L, self-acclaimed Dancehall King, Shatta Wale and Kwaw Kese lied to Ghanaians about their mansions. Both have consistently been engaged in a bragging contest of how they made money through music and build mansions trying to show off to their fans at the least opportunity. But EL has stated that anyone who claims to have made a fortune from music alone is a liar. “Music is just a means to an end. You cannot leave a legacy through music. It is actually the businesses you use your music for. How much can you sell an album or a song in Ghana? Any artiste who says he made a fortune only through music is a liar” He stressed “No artiste in Ghana can tell me he built a house or made a big fortune with an album or a particular song. I challenge any musician to come and contest me. It is how you direct your music into other businesses,” he said. Asked if they do not make enough m...
