‘Detention in Dubai has made me older than my age’ – NAM1

The CEO of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah believes that his time in security detention in the United Arab Emirates has toughened him to reach higher heights in business.

Mr. Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM1 while addressing a press conference on Monday, said being held in Dubai for several weeks “has made me older than my age.”

The challenges with his business commenced in 2018.

NAM1, who spent several months in detention in Dubai said, “While my detention in Dubai was a harrowing, daunting, terrific and horrific experience, I am grateful to God because I feel very refined. It has made me older than my age as we grow in our experiences and not in years. I am fulfilled and ready for greater exploits, highly motivated to add up to our previous gain.”

NAM1 is currently standing trial and facing charges of fraud brought against him by some persons who invested in his gold dealership company, Menzgold but have not been paid their dividends or principals for several months.

An INTERPOL red alert notice placed on him by the government of Ghana also made it impossible for the Dubai authorities to release him from their custody after he won a legal battle with a Dubai-based company in court but immediately after his eventual arrival in Ghana in July 2019, he was whisked away by security officials to the Police Headquarters for questioning.

He is currently on bail.


 NAM1 begs gov’t to unfreeze his accounts

NAM1 at the press conference called on the government to unfreeze his account and that of Menzgold to enable him settle debts he owed his customers.

He urged the government “to unfreeze our Companies and my personal bank accounts and assets for us to utilise these as vehicles to get productive in order to meet our liabilities, owed to our customers and some business associates in our bid to resolve our liabilities immediately.”

As of now, Brew Marketing Consult, Menzgold and I cannot credit or debit any bank account in Ghana. This is why it is highly imperative to consider this kind request, as I believe, government shares in our resolve and would do all that which is needful in our quest to satisfy the populace, who are our customers.”

Wakaso joins Chinese club Jiangsu Suning

Ghanaian midfielder Mubarak Wakaso is on the verge of swapping the Spanish La Liga for the Chinese Super League (CSL) after agreeing personal terms with Jiangsu Suning.
