Premier League 2019/20 opening day fixtures revealed as Manchester United take on Chelsea

THE opening fixtures for the Premier League season have been revealed, with Manchester United being handed an unwelcome tough match.

The Premier League returns on Friday, August 9, with football fans ups and down the country eagerly-anticipating the start of the new campaign

Defending champions Manchester City will look to scoop their third consecutive league title in the upcoming campaign and further lay the foundations for a legacy for manager Pep Guardiola.
And they’ll kick off their defence of the title away to West Ham United on Saturday, August 10.

Last season’s runners-up Liverpool, who missed out on the title by a solitary point, will be looking to go one better and end City’s dominance at the top of the table.

Jurgen Klopp’s Champions League-winning troops will begin their pursuit of the Premier League title at home to last season’s Championship winners Norwich City on Friday, August 9.

Manchester United and Arsenal fans will be hoping their teams can kick start their respective bids for Champions League football with a string of early victories.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first full season in charge of United kicks off with a baptism of fire against Chelsea on Sunday, August 11.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have been handed a trip to Newcastle for their first match of the Unai Emery’s second season at the Emirates helm.

Norwich’s fellow Championship graduates Sheffield United and Aston Villa will also be on the road in their first games back in the top-flight, taking on Bournemouth and Tottenham respectively on Saturday, August 10.

If last season is anything to go by, the 2019/20 season promises to provide the thrills and spills the Premier League has become renowned for.
