I deserve to win the “Artist of the Decade” award at this year’s VGMAs- Efya

Ghanaian singer, Efya has stated that her hard work and relevance in the music industry for the past decade makes her the better candidate to win the “Artiste Of The Decade” award at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).

According to the “Little Things” singer, not only did she create a whole new genre for other female artistes to follow, she did so whilst continuing to stay relevant.

In an interview with Joy News’ MzGee at the celebration of the 93rd birthday celebration of the British Queen here in Ghana, Efya stated that she deserved the nomination.

“Everybody that I have seen posting it thinks I deserve to be there. I think I deserve to be as well,” she said.

“I’ve definitely been relevant over a decade. I have been doing ‘Girl Talk’ for four years, it is the only show in Ghana that brings all the women together and I have sold out every show, relevance. I have collaborated with at least more than 10 international African artistes and made hits, relevance. I created a whole new genre for female artiste to follow, I inspired a whole generation, relevance,” she added.

Efya has been nominated alongside Sarkodie, Samini, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, VIP, Ohemaa Mercy, Ruff and Smooth, Okyeame Kwame, Joe Mettle and 4×4 for the Artiste of the Decade award at the 20th anniversary of the VGMAs.

Wakaso joins Chinese club Jiangsu Suning

Ghanaian midfielder Mubarak Wakaso is on the verge of swapping the Spanish La Liga for the Chinese Super League (CSL) after agreeing personal terms with Jiangsu Suning. Wakaso, 29, was entering into the final year of his three-year deal with Deportivo Alaves, but he will now depart midway through the season after the two clubs reached an agreement. THE ban on celebrities endorsing alcoholic beverages by Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has clearly affected a lot of celebrities and one aggrieved personality is comic actor Kwame Dzokoto who says it is the reason why he is no longer in the media. Ghana, United Kingdom pledge to strengthen ties of co-operation
